Grandma’s bed, back in use.
Old beds were built before today’s standard sizes. A modern full or twin either hangs over the rails or leaves a gap. We build a mattress to the frame you have, so an heirloom bed can go back in the bedroom instead of the attic.
Old sizes, new mattress.
Three-quarter beds
About 48 inches wide, between a twin and a full. One of the most common antique sizes, and almost impossible to buy off the shelf.
Short and odd lengths
Beds from before the 75-inch standard, and frames that have been rebuilt over the years.
Rounded corners
For footboards and headboards with curved posts, so the mattress sits inside the frame instead of on top of it.
How to measure an antique bed.
Inside the rails
Measure between the side rails and from headboard to footboard, where the mattress will actually sit. Round down to the nearest half inch.
Posts and curves
If the posts or the footboard curve into the space, note how far, or bring a paper template of the corner.
Height
Tell us how high you want it to sit against the headboard.
